Roles and Permissions for Common Assessments

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Knowing who can create, manage, and view Common Assessments in Wayground is important for smooth implementation. Permissions are assigned based on user roles within Wayground to ensure that educators and administrators have the appropriate level of access.

Understanding user roles

Here are the main roles involved in the Common Assessments workflow:

  • System Admin: Manages the entire organization, including rostering, integrations, and user roles

  • School Admin: Available in the Wayground District Plan with the Common Assessments add-on. School Admins can view Common Assessments associated with their school, track participation, and monitor student performance

  • Assessment Coordinator: Available in the Wayground District Plan with the Common Assessments add-on. Teachers with this role can create and manage Common Assessments

  • Educator: Administers Common Assessments to their classes, views class-level performance data, and accesses all Wayground resources outside of Common Assessments

How access works

  • System Admins and School Admins gain visibility based on the schools selected during Common Assessment creation. This applies regardless of when they join Wayground; a School Admin added mid-year automatically sees all relevant Common Assessments for their school

  • Teachers sync from Teams or Courses. Membership syncs until the Common Assessment start date, and additions continue until the Common Assessment end date

  • Common Assessment creators can track proctors and admins directly from the Common Assessment Details Page

Clever

  • District admins from Clever map to the System Admin role in Wayground

  • School principals from Clever map to the School Admin role in Wayground

  • Admins for district organizations from ClassLink map to the System Admin role in Wayground

  • Admins for school organizations from ClassLink map to the School Admin role in Wayground

How to request a role change

If you are an Educator and need to create Common Assessments, contact your Wayground System Admin to request a role update. They can update your role from Admin Controls > Manage members/teachers.
