Common Assessments on Wayground can be set up to use LockDown Browser by Respondus, a secure testing tool that prevents students from accessing other apps, websites, or functions like copy, print, and screen sharing during an assessment.
This setting is optional and only applies if the Common Assessment creator turns it on.
For Common Assessment Creators
You can choose to require LockDown Browser when creating or editing a Common Assessment.
To enable LockDown Browser:
Find the Common Assessment you are administering and click on it to go to the Common Assessment details page
Turn on the Require LockDown Browser toggle
(Optional) Add any tools to the Allowlisted Apps list if students should be able to use them during the test.
Tip: Create a short, non-graded practice assessment that uses LockDown Browser, so everyone can test their setup in advance.
You can read more in the Guide to Creating a Common Assessment.

Running the session
Running a Common Assessment that requires LockDown Browser works just like any other Common Assessment on Wayground.
Start or resume your session from the Common Assessments page (see steps 1-3 above)
As students join using LockDown Browser, you’ll see them in the Waiting for Admission list.
Click on Admit all or admit individually.
Once ready, click on Start assessment.
Emergency Guide
If a student faces issues with LockDown Browser during the assessment, use your Emergency Guide, available:
In the Assessment Lobby, under the LockDown Browser tab.
In the Assessment Dashboard, under the info/help (“i”) icon.
Common issues
1. LockDown Browser won’t launch or install
Use the Backup Link from your Emergency Guide. This lets the student take the test in a regular browser (only in urgent cases).
2. Browser is frozen or stuck
Give the student the Exit Password from your Emergency Guide.
They can click on the “i” or “x” icon in the top-left corner, choose Proctor Exit, enter the password, and close the browser safely.
For Students
