Create a Presentation (Formerly Lesson)

With Presentations, you can teach to achieve significant learning results and boost student engagement.

You can also embed questions and Interactive Videos within a Presentation to assess students' understanding, identify gaps in teaching, and update your instruction on the go. 

There are three ways in which you can create a Presentation:

  • from scratch
  • by importing & syncing a Google Slides Presentation 
  • by importing a PDF file

Create a Presentation from scratch

To create a Presentation from scratch, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the 'Create' button
  2. Choose 'Presentation'
  3. Select '+ Add a blank slide'
  4. Click on the '+ Add' button at the top left corner of your screen
  5. Now, you can add a slide, a question, an Interactive Video, or a website link
    1. On selecting 'Slide', choose from the available types of slides
    2. On selecting 'Question', choose from the available question types
    3. On selecting 'Website link'
    4. On selecting 'Interactive Video', a pop-up screen will appear where you can:
      1. Search the Wayground Library to find curated Interactive Videos
      2. Use a YouTube video to turn a YouTube video into an Interactive Video
      3. Upload any video to create an Interactive Video with it
  6. You can also click on 'Import slides' to import slides and questions from resources in the Wayground Library
  7. In content slides:
    1. Click on the magnifying glass icon to search for slides, questions, interactive videos, and other resources to import into your slides
    2. Click on the text icon for text formatting needs
    3. Click on the equation icon to insert equations
    4. Click on the image, audio, and video icons  to add videos, images, audio, etc., to your slide
    5. Click on the elements icon to add elements like shapes, columns, etc., to your slide
    6. Click on the table icon to insert a table into your slide
    7. Click on 'Themes' to change the theme for your slides
  8. Once you're happy with your Presentation, click on 'Publish'

Import, sync, & generate questions from a Google Slides Presentation

  1. Click on the 'Create' button
  2. Choose 'Presentation'
  3. Select 'Import content'
  4. Click on 'Import from Google Drive'
  5. Sign in to your Google account and review the list of permissions required
  6. Once signed in, click on the required Google Slides Presentation and click on the 'Select' button
  7. All the slides will now be imported. You can unselect and select slides for import by clicking on them
  8. Click on 'Next'
  9. If you want Wayground AI to generate questions based on the content of the Google Slides you are importing, check the box before 'Auto-generate questions based on your teaching goals', then proceed to choose your teaching goal (Teach, Review, Practice, Other). 
  10. Click on 'Next'
  11. Click on the '+ Add' button at the top left corner of your screen
  12. Now, you can add a slide, a question, an Interactive Video, or a website link
  13. To add more slides from the imported Google Slides file to this Presentation,
    1. Click on the three-dot icon () followed by ' Select Google Slides'
    2. Select or deselect the slides by clicking on them
    3. Click on 'Import'
  14. To edit the imported slides in this Presentation,
    1. Click on the ' Edit' button. You will be redirected to the original Google Slides file, where you can make edits and modifications
    2. Once you have made the edits on Google Slides, return to the Presentation on Wayground, and click the ' Update ' button
    3. Select if you want to update the current slide or all slides from the drop-down menu
    4. Wayground will now synchronize all the changes made to your Google Slides file with the Presentation
  15. Once you're happy with your Presentation, click on 'Publish'

Import a PDF file to create a Presentation

To create a Presentation by importing a PDF file, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the 'Create'
  2. Choose 'Presentation' 
  3. Click on 'Import content'
  4. Select 'Upload from your device' or 'Import from Google Drive'
  5. Select and import the desired PDF file
  6. Once the file gets imported, select or deselect the slides you'd like your Presentation to have
  7. If you want Wayground AI to generate questions based on the content of the Google Slides you are importing, check the box before 'Auto-generate questions based on your teaching goals', then proceed to choose your teaching goal (Teach, Review, Practice, Other). 
  8. Click on 'Next'
  9. These slides will be imported as static images. Click on the trash icon () to delete a slide, and click on the duplicate icon () to duplicate a slide
  10. To add a slide, a question, an Interactive Video, or a website link, click on the '+Add' button
  11. Once you're happy with your Presentation, click on 'Publish'

Add AI-generated questions to Presentations imported from Google Slides or PDFs

If you had checked the box for 'Generate questions with Wayground AI' while importing your content, 

  1. Wayground AI will start generating questions based on the content of your Google Slides as well as the teaching goal you have selected (i.e., Teach, Review, Practice, Other)
  2. You can either:
    • Wait for the question generation to finish, or
    • Click on 'Start editing' to continue working on your Presentation while the questions are generated in the background
  3. Once the questions are ready, make sure to review them
  4. The generated question slides will be placed next to the relevant content slides in your Presentation.
  5. Click on the 'Start editing' button to open the Presentation editor
  6. From there, you can rearrange the slides as needed 

Types of slides and questions available

The formats of slides supported in a Presentation are:

  • Blank slides: Best suited for slides that are used in between different topics
  • Title slide: Best suited for presenting titles and topics 
  • Text slide: Best suited for text content
  • Text and media: Best suited for a mix of text and media content
  • Full screen media: Best suited for multimedia content that requires full-screen attention
  • Web page link: Best suited for links (to reach another site)
  • Interactive video: Great for embedding questions within videos in the Presentation to keep students engaged and reinforce learning as they watch

Question types available for a Wayground Presentation are:

  • Multiple-choice
