If you set up the Quizizz-Canvas LTI integration before the rebrand to Wayground, the tool still appears as ‘Quizizz’ to your teachers in Canvas. To update the name, rename the existing LTI tool in place. Do not delete and reinstall it.
Important: Do not delete the existing Quizizz LTI key. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone, and it breaks grade sync for every assessment already assigned through that key. The rename procedure below is fully non-destructive. It preserves your existing key, all URLs, and every pre-assigned activity.
What the rename does:
- Teachers see the tool listed as Wayground (formerly Quizizz) in Canvas, instead of Quizizz
- All pre-assigned sessions continue to work normally, with grade sync intact
- Teachers do not see duplicate tools, since you’re renaming the existing tool rather than creating a new one
- The change takes around 3 to 4 hours to reflect on the teachers’ side after you save
Follow these steps:
- 1. Log in to Canvas as an administrator.
- 2. Click the Admin tab in the left navigation, then select your account name.
- 3. Go to ‘Developer Keys’
- 4. In the keys list, find the entry named Quizizz and click the edit (pencil) icon in the Actions column.
- 5. The Key Settings panel opens. Leave every existing field as it is, including all URLs that contain quizizz.com (Redirect URIs, Target Link URI, OpenID Connect Initiation URL). You do not need to change the Key Name, Title, Description, or any other configuration value.
- 6. Scroll down past Public JWK, LTI Advantage Services, Additional Settings, and Placements. You will find two expandable sections: Link Selection and Assignment Selection.
- 7. Click Link Selection to expand it. In the Text field, replace ‘Quizizz’ with Wayground (formerly Quizizz).
- 8. Click Assignment Selection to expand it. In the Text field, replace ‘Quizizz’ with Wayground (formerly Quizizz).
- 9. Click Save at the bottom right of the panel. You will see a ‘Save successful’ confirmation.

Note: The rename can take up to 3 to 4 hours to reflect on the teachers’ side. Once it propagates, when teachers create an assignment in Canvas with Submission type set to External tool and click Find, the tool will appear as Wayground (formerly Quizizz) in the Configure External Tool dialog.
Please note:
- Only teachers rostered on Wayground as part of your Wayground Schools & District plans can use the Wayground–Canvas integration. Teachers not rostered and attempting to link a Wayground LTI activity in a Canvas course will receive a message prompting them to get rostered on the plan to access the Canvas integration.
- To ensure a smooth experience, we suggest installing Wayground LTI in Canvas at the district level. This will allow all teachers rostered on the Wayground Premium plan to access the Wayground LTI app. Other teachers will be directed to Wayground Basicplan accounts.
- You only need to generate a single integration link from Wayground, even if you have a multi-school subscription. After integrating this link with Canvas at the district level, the integration will automatically extend to all associated schools.
- If you install Wayground LTI in separate sub-accounts or schools within the district, you must generate individual integration links from https://wayground.com/lti/admin/canvas/integration using different Wayground school accounts and use those links for each Canvas sub-account. You can't use the same integration link for multiple installations.
