For Teachers

As a teacher, you can assign Wayground activities in Canvas using an easier-than-ever method with our LTI integration. Follow this simple guide to enhance your course content with engaging Wayground activities embedded in Canvas. To learn about how to integrate Wayground with Canvas via LTI, read this article: Integrate Wayground with Canvas via LTI | For District Administrators

This feature is available for users with Wayground Schools & District Plans.

  1. 1. Log in to your Canvas account and navigate to the course where you want to assign a Wayground session
  2. 2. In your course, click on ‘Assignments’ from the left navigation pane
  3. 3. In the top right corner, click on ‘+ Assignment’ to create a new assignment
  4. 4. Scroll down to Submission type, and from the drop-down menu, select 'External Tool'
  5. 5. Click on ‘Find’ to choose an external tool
  6. 6. Select ‘Wayground’ from the list of available tools

  7. 7. Upon selecting Wayground, you will be prompted to sign in to your Wayground account
  8. 8. Select the Wayground resource you want to add to this assignment from the 'My Library' section or explore millions of activities from across Wayground from the 'Search' section

  9. Note:
    • 1. This feature is currently only accessible using the Google Chrome browser. Support for other browsers is not available at the moment.
    • 2. The class roster on Wayground is updated every time the teacher opens the Wayground LTI app from the Canvas course
    • 3. When a student clicks on an ongoing Wayground assignment link in their Canvas course, they are automatically added to the Wayground class if not already added, and can begin the session immediately

  10. 9. You can scroll to preview the selected resource or directly assign it
    • 1. Set game-setting preferences like a deadline, number of participant attempts, start and end times, etc.
    • 2. Select ‘Assign’ to assign it as homework, or click on ‘Live Session’ to host it live

      Note:

You can set up Accommodations for sessions assigned via LTI only after at least one session has been assigned to that course. In other words, the very first session assigned via LTI to a course will not have Accommodations assigned to it.

  11. 10. Wayground recommends checking the option to ‘Load This Tool In A New Tab’ to enable a better experience for students
  12. 11. The LTI activity link will now be added to your Canvas course page
  13. 12. Complete the Canvas assignment details

  14. 13. Click on 'Save & Publish' when ready

And done! You have successfully assigned a Wayground session on Canvas. Your students can now participate in interactive Wayground activities directly from their Canvas course page.

Once students complete the assignment, their grade will automatically sync to the Canvas course grade book. If you configure multiple attempts, the best grade will be synced to the grade book.

On the Wayground Reports page, you can also view detailed insights, including students’ question responses and standard-aligned reports of an assignment.
